Volunteering at Hadleigh Farm

Thank you for your interest in volunteering at Hadleigh Farm Rare Breed Centre.

Hadleigh Farm Rare Breed Centre works in partnership with Hadleigh Training Centre to re-train people with special educational needs. You can see our trainees working around the site serving customers in the tearooms, caring for the animals and maintaining the centre. However for the Rare Breed Centre to run on a daily basis we also rely on volunteers. Our volunteers help to support the trainees, care for the animals and give our customers a memorable experience.

Benefits

As well as working outdoors in the fresh air and contributing to a worthwhile cause, volunteers are entitled to a discount inside Hadleigh Tearooms and their immediate family have free entry  in to the Rare Breed Centre.

A quote from a regular volunteer is 'it is good for the mind, body and soul. I enjoy the experience of working closely with the animals, learning about their characters, habits and welfare.'

What's involved?

Due to the health and safety associated with working on a farm, volunteers must be a minimum of 18 years old.

Volunteers can volunteer as often or as little as they like with the minimum requirement of once a fortnight. The majority of our team volunteer one day a week. Some of our volunteers complete a block placement for a few weeks at a time.

Due to the nature of working on a farm the majority of our volunteering roles involve working outside with or in close proximity to animals. We will supply you with all the protective clothing you require but you must bring your own steel toe boots.
